    Gazing the immense light blue Aegean seas, between two natural picturesque small boat harbours, in a slightly elevated setting on the northern shores of Samos Island you will find Villa Alkioni. The ancient Greek mythology refers to Alkioni as a gorgeous woman which fell in love the Jupiter. However Jupiter’s wife Ira was outraged and zealous, so she transformed Alkioni into a beautiful seabird the Kingfisher which it was condemned to give birth to his eggs in the heart of winter in the rocks by the sea and not been able to enjoy maternity because the eggs were always smashed in the winter sea storms. Then the Jupiter intervened and decided to smoothen up the seas while the eggs were hatching and these days were so called `Alkionithes Days’. The rocks precisely under the Villa Alkioni entertain infrequently numerous these beautiful seabirds with the long beak and the light blue green neck.
