Our company, with the distinctive title VAKAKIS WINES, started its operation in 2011 under the most adverse conditions, not only because of the current economic crisis, but because the establishment of a company with the object of wine production was not possible in Samos. And this because, based on a compulsory law of 1934, all the production of the Samio vineyard had to be delivered to the cooperative. Challenging this absurd and outdated regime has led us to lengthy court battles both in Greece and the EU.
The whole case is coming to an end, despite the negative attitude from the beginning of the case until today of the competent Ministry, which instead of standing in support of every creative stands opposite, obeying the Greek supreme office, the votes are above all.
So within this hostile environment, the company until 2013 was active in the wine trade and from 2013 until today in the vinification and trading of Samiot Wines.
Three (3) dry wines, two (2) semi-sweet and three (3) sweet wines are produced. In the upcoming wine season, the first semi-sparkling wines will be produced.
Our decision to engage in this specific activity and undergo all this suffering was due to our absolute belief as Samians, that this treasure that exists in Samos was not being utilized properly by a sluggish organization like the Union, resulting in the future of Samio vineyard to be seriously questioned.
The promotion of the truly unique Samio vineyard and its products is our main concern, because only through its promotion will our company have a bright future.
In addition, the operating philosophy of our company is the production of a small number of high quality and aesthetic bottles from rare local indigenous varieties. In this way, we aspire to slowly create a recognizable product that has its own audience. At the same time, we aspire for our company's wine to become the most recognizable quality ambassador of Samio wine abroad.
We already export to China, Hong Kong and Switzerland, Germany and the Netherlands, while our immediate plans are to expand into new markets.
Based on our philosophy, the comparative advantages of our company over the competition are summarized in the selection of grapes from the best terroirs of the island, in the promotion of local indigenous varieties, in the absence of borrowing, in the control of operating costs and in the immediate decision-making.
